Patient Reviews
I underwent the Cornea and Anterior Segment Package (Screening) to check which laser refractive procedure is suitable for me. The staff were very polite and attentive even though Saturday is a busy day. They took time to explain the procedures clearly, and answer questions thoroughly. For the screening, the following procedures were performed: pupil diameter measurement; eye grade determination with an optometrist; eye surface, length and pressure determination; tears measurement; eye dilation for another set of eye grade determination then retina check; and, finally, a discussion with an ophthalmologist for the suitable procedure (LASIK for both eyes in my case). The retina check and discussion with the ophtha had long waiting times because of doctor availability, but the rest of the tests were completed within 3 hours. A whole day should be allotted for the screening. A companion is needed and no driving is allowed as the eyes will be sensitive to light because of the eye drops. Thankfully, my HMO covered the screening (P3305 in my case but is now P3430, perhaps starting 2022). The laser refractive procedures are not cheap but they offer 0% interest for 3-6 months if using BDO/BPI/RCBC credit card for the facility fee. The professional fee (price varies) should be paid by cash or online transfer on the day of the procedure. See picture for details. It's better to book in advance, especially for Saturday schedules. It's also highly recommended to do the screening way ahead of the target procedure date because there might be a need to correct something before the procedure can be done.
✨️ My Laser Eye Surgery Journey ✨️ 2015 - Started wearing glasses in Jan 2015. 15 Feb 2024 - Eye Screening | The Medical City Ortigas • Doc Keisha - Right eye 375, 300 Astigmatism | L: 400, 375 A - Found out my cornea was too thin for LASIK, but was eligible for PRK. - PRK is different from LASIK—LASIK creates a thin flap in the cornea while PRK removes the outer layer of the cornea, which grows back over time; PRK has a longer recovery period (up to 6 months); PRK is more affordable (around ₱50K) 2 March - Surgery Day - Procedure took less than 20 minutes. I was under anesthesia, so no pain, but I could smell the laser. - After surgery: - Light sensitivity - Teary eyes - Couldn't use my phone 8 PM - No more light sensitivity or teary eyes - Finally able to use my phone Day 1 Post-Op - Managed to read up to page 120 of a book Day 2 Post-Op - Woke up at 5 AM in pain, teary eyes; took a pain reliever and went back to sleep - Woke up at 11:40 AM with slightly teary eyes, blurry vision, and double vision in my left eye Day 3 Post-Op - Heavy eyelids, blurry vision, and light sensitivity Day 4 Post-Op - Double vision, blurry vision, light sensitivity, and glares continued Day 5 Post-Op - Blurry vision, glares, and the sensation of a foreign object in my eye - Follow up check up: ✨️ 20/30 vision ✨️ - Double vision, but managed to read a book Day 6 Post-Op - Worked online though glares and blurry vision persisted - Kdrama (1 ep) Day 7 Post-Op - Still had glares and blurry vision, especially in my right eye - Went out for the first time. - Kdrama (1 ep) 2 Weeks Post-Op - No contact with water for the first 2 weeks - Bandage lenses removed! Pwede na maligo! 💦 - Eye drops, eye drops, eye drops - Spent my time reading books and playing chess. - Recommended (for all, regardless of whether you have undergone laser eye surgery or not) to wear sunglasses outdoors to protect your eyes. When choosing sunglasses, look for those labeled with 100% UV protection or UV400 for optimal protection. 😎 1 Month Post-Op - ✨️ 20/20 ✨️ 3rd Month Post-Op - ✨️ 20/15! ✨️ Finally, specs-free! Looking forward to adventures, especially skydiving—something I wouldnt enjoy with blurry vision! Best investment so far!
