Patient Reviews
Most of the medical staff demonstrate a concerning lack of competence in performing basic procedures such as blood sample collection and IV needle insertion. On the first day, two medical staff members attempted twice to collect my blood sample. After multiple needle insertions and unnecessary discomfort, they were still unsuccessful. Only after a staff member from the Emergency Room was called was the blood sample collected correctly in a single attempt. This clearly highlights a gap in skill and training. On the second day, a different staff member collected my blood sample. The procedure was unnecessarily painful and appeared deliberate rather than accidental. It became evident that this staff member had personal issues with me, which clearly interfered with her professional conduct. Personal conflicts have absolutely no place in a healthcare setting, where patient safety and dignity must be the top priority. Although I chose not to file an immediate complaint, this experience was unacceptable and should not be ignored. To the hospital management: this matter requires serious attention. Your staff must be properly trained and strictly reminded of professional boundaries. A routine blood test should never involve repeated failed attempts, excessive pain, or behavior influenced by personal bias.
I had a disappointing experience at Sacred Heart Medical Center, particularly in the Emergency Room. Before even discussing my symptoms or reasons for being there, I was immediately informed of their policy regarding health insurance. They made it clear that if I didn't make the 5:30 PM cut-off, I'd have to pay upfront and leave my HMO card, only to retrieve it the next day. This approach felt more focused on their policies than on patient care. While in the isolation room, I encountered several issues. There were mosquitoes, and the bed sheet had dried blood stains, which was unsettling. Moreover, laboratory test results were not handed out to me, leaving me in the dark about my own health status. After my lab tests, I was admitted with a diagnosis of pneumonia. However, when I requested a medical certificate on my last day, it stated bronchitis instead—this inconsistency added to my frustration. The private room I was admitted to was in poor condition. There were visible molds around the ceiling and air conditioning vents, which made the room feel unclean and poorly maintained. While the nurses provided adequate service, their attitudes varied; some were friendly, but many were quite rude. At midnight, they would knock loudly and barge in to take vital signs, which was disruptive. Additionally, basic amenities like a pillow weren’t provided; I had to request and purchase one. The room's floor and walls were constantly moist, prompting the cleaners to adjust the fan and air conditioning to maximum levels to remove the moisture. Unfortunately, this left the room freezing cold, making the stay even more uncomfortable. Overall, the experience was far from satisfactory.
I never really liked this hospital as they refused to admit me in the ER during Covid days when I was driven there with heart attack symptoms. I was taken to AUF and they took me in the ER, followed by an angioplasty and angiogram. This time was partners was confined at Sacred Heart and while the doctors are pleasant, the admin functions need a lot of work. One of the elevators was broken down at most times, the medical records room is on the Roofdeck than you pay for it on the lobby and go back to the roofdeck. With only 1 elevator working it’s too big a pain. And they gave us a med cert just with the dates of confinement and not mentioning the days of bed rest, and this is after they did a gall bladder removal surgery. When we asked for bed rest duration to be included, we were asked how long should the bed rest be, and I was like really do I need to answer that.
