Patient Reviews
My hubby and I had lasik done by Dr. Cymmer of Chonghua years ago. He was great. Staff were amazing as well. If you're considering lasik, I highly recommend him.
Kind and friendly only at first visit. I was prev informed by dr Jose's secretary that 7:30am is the cut off but he arrives by 9/10am and it's a 1st come 1st serve basis. So I came to have checked the left eye checked before 7:30am a Saturday and although I had an HMO, I was told to pay for a processing/administrative fee which is not covered so I paid. At first, patients need to pass through another young doctor (I do not know if he's a doctor or practitioner though) which will tell you to do the typical eye evaluation where you need to read from the very huge to very tiny letters from far, then I was told to wait. By almost 9am the same dr started checking my eye with the optical microscope then was told to wait. Then, finally I was meeting dr. Jose who was approachable and friendly. Then without having made any kind of intervention in my eyes, he wounds up stating that I do not have anything that my vision is ok. So, I quickly reacted and said that I actually went there to have my left eye checked since there is a tiny bump in the eyelid. Then, that's the only time he himself checked my eye and said I got Meibomian gland and I need a MGE procedure which costs 5k. I asked how long it takes he said is quick no more than 5-10min. I asked if 5k is only for the left eye and he said no, for both and I replied but I only need for the left one then he said 2.5k is for one but I need for both (although I only needed one eye to have it treated so seems he wanted to earn more). Then I go there early morning next Saturday to only be told that dr is on leave till Monday and come back that day (If you guys knew the effort the patient put into coming a Sat early morning for just to be told that and when coming on weekends instead of weekdays it may be cos we can't due to work). Then, I came next Sat and was told to go to be registered first then was told I needed to pay a fee of 334p and then I said the cashier that I needed to pay instead a 5k. She said I will do it later to the dr. This time there is no initial evaluation or anything so I only needed to wait. Then was called and I got a sudden cramp when standing up as was waiting for so long so I was standing at dr. office's door then he asked to sit and I explained what was happening then he asked for my LOG, I said it expired. He says ok then there is a price difference and told secretary to let me know. I reacted saying so without HMO there is a different price then why I wasn't informed and he replies by speaking kinda louder "Of course there is a difference price, the price I gave you is with HMO" I told him that's common sense for someone who is used to these things (an experienced or regular patient - besides I know this depends on clinic cos e.g. Cebu doctors charges higher if without HMO but another one keeps same price with or no HMO) not someone who is a first timer. Then he immediately replied with a mocking entonation: Without HMO is another price that's common sense! So now what would you like me to do for you?" Then I said I only need to know the difference, he said ok that the secretary will tell me. The secretary actually didn't even know, she told me to wait then she went to dr's office to ask for the price. She was told 5k for the procedure yet. Then she told me she needs to confirm how much is for the operating room. After some minutes she informed me is 5k for it so a total of 5k and advises me to withdraw money from the ATM inside the hospital but the other 5k needs to be cash because is for the doctor. Very disappointed for the manner dr replied to me and because I was only prepared to pay 5k, I asked her to have the processing fee reimbursed since I won't do any procedure and she replies saying can not cos that money covered the dr's assistance when I came inside his office so cant be reimbursed. So disappointed I just left. My disappointment comes mainly cos of dr's mocking intonation and I can't believe that me, the patient who doesn't know anything about eye problems, was the one to tell him I got something in my left eye after he told I got nothing.
