I had a terrible experience when I accompanied my partner to this vaccine clinic today. We got there around 12:45 PM and waited outside because there was a sign on the door saying the staff were on lunch break until 1:15PM. There were only two people in line (a kid with her dad and my partner, who was second). When they started letting people in, I was told that only one companion per patient was allowed, which was understandable. However, when I tried to enter with my partner, a staff member stopped me and said I wasn’t allowed inside due to “crowd control.” We were both wearing face masks as we are following their health protocols. I looked inside and saw that there were only two people in the waiting area (my partner and the child’s dad), with five empty chairs at the back. I asked if I could just sit inside since it was 32 degrees outside and I was starting to feel lightheaded, but the staff refused again and just repeated, “We’re doing crowd control.” What made things worse was when she suddenly said, “Bawal mag-video at mag-picture,” while staring at my phone, even though I was holding it upside down and clearly not recording anything. I tried to explain, but she kept insisting that I was taking a video. Another staff member, a man, then joined in and said, “We’re a private company, not public,” as if that justified being dismissive or lacking compassion. I understood their protocols but what about basic courtesy and consideration, especially given the extreme heat. The conversation went nowhere; they just kept repeating “protocol”. Before leaving, I decided to take a photo of their signage so I wont forget the name of their clinic, and that same male staff member started shouting, “Bawal yan, may Data Privacy Act!” even though I didn’t take a photo of any person, just their public notice. Very disappointing. These staff do not even know what Data Privacy Act is. Clearly, a signage is not personal data and taking a photo of it is not a violation. Very disrespectful and unwelcoming staff. I had my vaccine here a year ago and I clearly remember how transactional the staff are. I completely understand following health and safety protocols, but there’s a huge difference between being careful and being rude. A little empathy and professionalism would have gone a long way.
